Kenny Loggins' self-titled debut album is a classic example of the singer-songwriter genre that dominated the early 1970s. Released in 1977, the album showcases Loggins' smooth vocals and impressive guitar skills, as well as his ability to craft catchy, memorable tunes.
From the opening track, "I Believe in Love," Loggins sets a mellow, introspective tone that permeates the entire album. The songs are all well-crafted, with thoughtful lyrics and memorable melodies that stick in the listener's head long after the music has stopped.
Highlights of the album include the upbeat, optimistic "Celebrate Me Home," which became a hit single, and the hauntingly beautiful "Lady Luck," which features Loggins' vocals at their most soulful. Other standout tracks include the rock-tinged "Let's Start Over," the funky "Love Song," and the dreamy, atmospheric "Wait a Little While."
